"Screams of pain....that's all I remember" said Aronath, to his fellow guard outside the city gates. It was a cold, rainy night around the town of Celstika. Aronath was joined by his friend and fellow "comrade" on his night guard shifts named Rephao.
"So...You don't remember much about it at all?" replied Rephao.
"Nope...." said Aronath in a a low voice replying to Rephao.
The night grew colder, and the rain picked up in it's violence, beating the guards with it's cold wet droplets in the midst of the night. Normally the city was very quiet at night, but this night was quite the exception for the residents of Celstika. Tomorrow was the holding of the highest regarded tradition in the entire kingdom: The Climbing of Mt. Celstika. Indeed, a mountain climb sounded boring but the people of the city truely knew what it was: A cold, bloody battle to the top of Mt Celstika to gain the right to be crowned a Knight of Celstika. A high honour indeed, which explains why Aronath's undoubtly huge popularity around these parts. Being last years winner, he spends his days walking around the town or reading a book in his fair house, and his nights are spent protecting the fair city.
"Well...tomorrow's the day, eh?" said Rephao.
"What? Oh...yeah...the climb. Yeah, tomorrow's the day" said Aronath, looking up from his book for a second to look at Rephao and act like he was listening.
"For a knight, you really are attached to reading Aron." rreplied Rephao to Aronath's sarcastic answer.
"That would be, let's see here...the tweleth time I've heard that tonight Rephao? Give it a rest comrade, I enjoy my reading; and some days I believe that if you smartened up and read...well then maybe you'de be a tad more respected by some of the higher ups. Knowledge is a powerful tool, Rephao." said Aronath in a lecture-like manner to Rephao.
"What is that supposed to mean, Comrade?" replied Rephao.
"I'm simply saying that not a lot of the knights respect you. Your young, you still have a lot to learn. Me? Not so much young, but very knowledgeable." said Aronath.
"You may have a point...." replied Rephao, beginning to ponder his comrade's words.
The sun began to rise, and the rain calmed a bit but still kept at a steady pace.
"Well Comrade, I bid you farewell until noon time strikes. May the God's bless your brother today in the climb should I not make it" said Aronath, going through the city gates and putting away his Flameberg.

"Do you know who I am, child? I am he who has slain thousands, the God of Darkness, THE PLAGUE! A child such as you must be reckless or stupid to face me. Well if you wish to save these two, fight me!" ~Chp 2 - The Plague.
All in all, a short albeit promising introduction to your story.
Looking forward to any future installments...
